The 2 souls

The two women represent the two psychic entities of the artist:

• On the left a relatively well finished entity, with regular features, and which represents the order, the injunction, the inner judge, the policeman, the punisher… Its mission is to push the artist to obey the rules of society and to follow the precepts of family education. She wants each painting to be an aesthetic success to please potential buyers, harasses the artist to be productive, foreseeing and triggers stress and anxieties when she believes that he is not following the injunctions.
• On the right an archaic entity, ill-defined, with crude features, and which does not care at all about aesthetics, productive time, judgments…Its role is to bring up the repressions submerged in the deep unconscious, the unanswered questions , and make them appear on the canvas.

The inner judge (character on the left) perceives this as a danger and refuses, provoking with each new painting a conflict, a contradiction which ends up being resolved when the aesthetics and the message, content and form, find unity.

In the background, we can see two animals plunging their paws into the dark waters of the psyche to bring certain knots often linked to childhood to emerge towards a blue, clear and peaceful sky (the artist’s cognitive surface).

The crosses in the skulls and the plaintive air of the entities correspond to a moment of great temporary confusion for the artist.

Les deux femmes représentent les deux entité psychiques de l’artiste :

• A gauche une entité relativement bien finie, aux traits réguliers, et qui représente l’ordre, l’injonction, le juge intérieur, le policier, le punisseur…Sa mission est de pousser l’artiste à obéir aux règles de la société et à suivre les préceptes de l’éducation familiale. Elle veut que chaque tableau soit une réussite esthétique pour plaire aux acheteurs potentiels, harcèle l’artiste pour qu’il soit productif, prévoyant et déclenche des stress et des angoisses lorsqu’elle estime qu’il ne suit pas les injonctions.
• A droite une entité archaïque, mal définie, aux traits grossiers, et qui se fiche totalement de l’esthétique, du temps productif, des jugements…Son rôle est de faire remonter les refoulements immergés dans l’inconscient profond, les questions sans réponses, et de les faire apparaître sur la toile.

Le juge intérieur (personnage de gauche) perçoit cela comme un danger et s’y refuse, provoquant à chaque nouvelle peinture un conflit, une contradiction qui finissent par se résoudre lorsque l’esthétique et le message trouvent une unité.

En arrière-plan, on peut voir deux animaux plongeant leurs pattes dans les eaux sombres de la psyché pour faire émerger vers un ciel bleu, clair et apaisé (la surface cognitive de l’artiste) certains nœuds souvent liés à l’enfance.

Les croix dans les crânes et l’air plaintif des entités correspondent à un moment de grande confusion passagère chez l’artiste.
