S24 1967 The Royal Ballet of Cambodia

Issued in 1967, the ” Royal Ballet of Cambodia ” stamp series pays homage to the Kingdom’s most revered artistic tradition and living symbol of divine heritage. Patronized by Queen Sisowath Kossamak and personified on the global stage by the Prime Ballerina Princess Norodom Bopha Devi, the Royal Ballet ( Robam Preah Reach Troap ) served as a cornerstone of Sangkum-era cultural identity. Depicting the grand postures and gilded regalia of celestial Apsaras rooted in the sacred bas-reliefs of Angkor, this set transformed daily postage into an instrument of soft-power diplomacy, projecting timeless elegance, spiritual purity, and unbroken nationhood during a period of rising geopolitical uncertainty.
